#276 Jim Wilson
#276 Jim Wilson
Progress: 1st of this card
271 of 407 66.5% complete
How acquired: $6.76 on ebay
Condition: Excellent
The Braves consitantly have some of the better looking cards in this set, and their 5th series cards seem to carry a higher price than most others. It's a chore to find them under $10. I feel great about picking up this Wilson in this kind of condition for the price that I did. There doesn't seem to a vocal contingent of Boston Braves fans online in the blogsphere, but their cards in this set certainly seem to have their fair share of buyers.
I really like the picture on this card. The uniform looks great, it's a classic baseball card pose, and I really enjoy whatever glimpses I can get of the early 1950's training facilities. They often look like summer camps rather than major league spring training sites.
Stats: 12 seasons, 3x All-Star, 86 wins, 89 losses, 4.01 ERA, led AL with 18 losses in '55 and made the All-Star team. Led AL with 5 Shutouts in 1957
