I recently "won" two lots of six cards each from a seller on ebay. I don't include shipping prices in my numbers on this blog, but that doesn't mean they aren't a huge factor for me. In fact, avoiding huge shipping cost is probably my main tactic when looking for these cards online. Usually when a seller puts up a beat up card for a buck, he puts up more than one. So when I find a seller with reasonable shipping, I zero in and try to grab as many of his 52's as I can within my budget.
Recently a seller willing to combine shipping popped up selling nine different 6 card lots. I "won" two of them. Duplicates is actually becoming an issue for me, so I declined to bid on about half of them. This first one I "won" for $14.95, which works out to $2.49 a card, which will be the price listed for this Jim Konstanty and the next five cards to pop up. The other I took down for $18.00.
On a side note, I find it very irritating the way ebay notifies you that you've "won" an auction. It's not like there was a test involved. You were just willing to pay more than anybody else.

Jim here is pretty banged up. But the price was right and for whatever reason, the Fightin' Phillies I've seen so far all look pretty nice on the '52 design. Jim, I also learned after purchase, was the NL MVP in 1950 when he went 16-7, finished 67 games, and had 22 saves.
