There's not much to nitpick about with this card. The line on the back seems rather arbitrary, but I'm sure someone had a reason for it at some point. For reasons I can't quite explain, I find this card to be very off putting. It's a combination of the picture, Charley's face, and the yellow background. None the less, Mr. Maxwell had an excellent career, over fourteen seasons he was named to two All-Star teams and finished in the AL Top Ten for Home runs on four occassions.

Card companies could never decide if he was 'Charley' or 'Charlie'. My father always griped about how he killed his Yankees but Maxwell had a reputation as a great 'Sunday' player. Since we always attended Yankee Stadium on Sunday that may be what was behind my father's angst.
