I think this is a great looking card. One of my favorites. But the paper loss isn't it's only issue. That crease you see running across his hat is a lot worse than it appears. The card is probably one more top-loader transfer away from being two pieces of card. I don't know what I'll do then. I have cards that have been taped together, but have never done the job myself. Not sure if I would, or just stick the pieces in a top loader. For now I'll just leave it where it is so it stays in one piece.

i wanted to read a bit more about him and I found this article online. Thompson led a violent, tragic life that ended when he was just 43.
ReplyDeleteAs the author points out (cleverly) he broke the color barrier with the AL team in St. Louis therefore becoming the first black 'Brown'. He was also the first black NY Giant and the first black to play in both leagues.
I may have to dig up a card of the guy. His is an interesting story.
